Varjo Workspace

Varjo Workspace lets you use Windows applications while wearing the headset, bridging the gap between your familiar software tools and the virtual environment.

This feature is available for XR-3, VR-3, Varjo Aero, and XR-1 Developer Edition.

Switching between Workspace and virtual applications

There two ways to switch between Workspace and your virtual application.

  1.  Using the Menu: Open the Menu on your headset and select the link to your active application or Workspace.

  2. Using a shortcut: Designate a shortcut key or mouse button in Varjo Base under the Workspace tab and Virtual desktop shortcut. The following keys cannot be used as shortcuts: Esc, Windows key, and Enter; left, middle, and right mouse buttons.

Note that your shortcut key will apply only for switching between Workspace and virtual applications and cannot be used in other applications. The shortcut is active only when your headset is connected.

To reassign or remove the shortcut, navigate to the Workspace tab and select Virtual desktop shortcut.

Virtual desktop

One or more virtual displays can be set up in Varjo Workspace. You can use controllers to point and click in Windows applications on your virtual desktop, or use a regular keyboard and mouse.

Virtual desktop can be customized in the Workspace tab in Varjo Base:

Application background Displays the active 3D application as the background of your virtual desktop.
Virtual background Change the background scene of your virtual desktop.
Controller Use your VR controller in Workspace.
Display setup Adjust the layout, size, and position of your virtual desktop.
Reset the display setup Resets the layout, size, and position of virtual displays to default.

Arranging your virtual displays

You can arrange virtual displays in Varjo Workspace to fit your needs. For example, you can position virtual displays to align with your displays in the real world.

Adjusting the layout of virtual displays

To adjust the layout of virtual displays, navigate to the Workspace tab in Varjo Base and select Display setup.

The following settings modify the layout of virtual displays. Note that some layout options are available only when using multiple displays.

Windows default Use the display settings configured on your Windows computer. This is the default option for virtual displays.
Same size Adjust the longer edges of your virtual displays to be the same length. This can be useful especially if you have displays in both horizontal and vertical orientation.
Same height Adjust your virtual displays to be the same height.
Same width Adjust your virtual displays to be the same width.
Size Adjust the size of your virtual displays while maintaining the aspect ratio and layout.
Curvature Adjust how sharply your displays are curved around the median line.
Auto-tilt When enabled, your virtual displays are automatically tilted towards you regardless of where they are positioned. When disabled, the displays always face forward. Auto-tilt is enabled by default.
Gap Set the width of the gap between your displays.
Position Move your virtual displays up, down, left, or right.
Distance Move the displays closer or farther away from you.

Select Done to apply settings or Reset to return to default values.

Repositioning virtual displays

The default positioning of virtual displays is defined by your tracking setup. You can quickly reposition the virtual displays to your current field of view while wearing the headset.

Reposition the virtual displays as follows:

  1.  While wearing the headset, go to the location where you want to use Varjo Workspace.
  2.  Open the Menu.
  3.  Select Reposition your virtual desktop.
  4. Look around. The virtual displays will move horizontally, following your gaze.
  5. Press any headset button to lock the displays in place.
